Kseniya Tseliazhenka

I was brought up in a family of athletes, so sports always played a big part in my life. I love to explore and compete! What I like about the ING NYC Marathon is that it gives runners an opportunity to run a challenging 26.2 miles for a good cause and make a positive change in the world! I chose to support and raise funds for RCWS that works so hard to save disadvantaged and orphaned children’s lives!

RCWS is committed to helping disadvantaged children since 1929. Donations translate to gifts to orphanages, medical support and transportation, improved living conditions, training programs and other educational initiatives that help children develop into healthy and independent adults. The funds raised from ING NYC Marathon will be put towards funding the reconstructive surgery for Russian orphans who have operable facial disfigurements.

The reality is that a record number of 700,000 orphans live in Russia and the rate is increasing by 113,000 children per year! These children lack the basic necessities and opportunities that we commonly take for granted. According to statistics only 4% of orphans make it to college, 40% become involved in crime, 10% commit suicide, 20% stay homeless. These numbers are clearly unacceptable and devastating!

Kseniya TseliazhenkaAs privileged individuals we share a common responsibility and opportunity to create a positive and healthy environment for these children. Russian tradition of excellence and passion for learning has produced notable scholars that revolutionized the world and the way we think. Some of these great minds were indeed orphans themselves. With our help, maybe one of the disadvantaged children will become the next D. Mendeleev (chemist), A. Popov (physicist), N. Basov (Nobel Prize winner), L. Tolstoi (writer) and the whole global community will benefit from their discoveries and works.

Please join me in the effort to make a positive difference and create life-changing opportunities for these orphaned children. Any donation will provide a meaningful contribution to change these disadvantaged children’s lives for good!
